As we’re in the middle of the spring season and hay fever is running rampant, some allergy sufferers are running to their allergists and filling prescriptions for the most powerful antihistamines they may find. Well, it might surprise you to know that not only do these antihistamines have side effects but they likewise come with another fact of life that very few persons are conscious of; something that the drug companies don’t want us to know. Well, this article is going to give you the straight facts on antihistamine side effects and that little little detail that your allergist failed to tell you when it comes to your favored hay fever remedy.

For those who aren’t rather sure how antihistamines work, it’s actually a very simple process. Basically, when your body is affected by an outside substance, like pollen, it reacts to this substance by constructing histamines. These histamines are the body’s defense versus these outside invaders. Unfortunately, in creating this defense, it also brings about the sensations or changes that go with them, such as the watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, and in extreme cases, shortness of breath and even asthma. What antihistamines do is reduce the effects of our body’s defense mechanism.

Unfortunately, these antihistamines come with a price tag that goes way beyond the cost of the pills themselves. Common side effects of antihistamines are drowsiness, which is why you will have to never drive or operate heavy machinery when taking them, dizziness, restlessness, nervousness and disturb stomach. Other side effects, which aren’t as mutual are arid mouth, arid nose, irritability, difficultness urinating and blurred vision. In most cases, the side effects from antihistamines are hardly noticeable. However, the real problem with taking these drugs is not so much from what they do to you, but from what they don’t do.

Over time, as you proceed to take a peculiar antihistamine, you may observe that the drug doesn’t seem to be working as well as it used to. The reason is simple. Your body’s immune scheme begins to build up tolerance to these drugs. Usually, within a amount of time of when it comes to three months, the drug stops working completely. At the very least, it is effectiveness is principally reduced. That is why a welleducated allergist, who doesn’t have his pockets filled by the drug companies, will tell you to rotate your antihistamines each three months. So for example, he might have you take Claritin, which holds loratadine, for three months and then have you switch to Benadryl, which holds diphenhydramine hydrochloride, for the next three months. Otherwise, you will find your allergy sensations or changes getting worse and worse.

This never ending battle versus allergies, which is genuinely a no win war with drugs, keeps the drug companies in business and makes them richer and richer. There are cures for allergies and they don’t implicate taking drugs. You may check out the details in my signature.

You don’t have to put up with antihistamine side effects and in the end lose the war versus allergies.

To YOUR Health,

Steve Wagner

5Works great!
By Donna Wagner
My insurance company stopped paying for my Allegra and I was forced to buy OTC Zyrtec or Claritin. The Claritin didn’t work and the Zyrtec was too expensive. Since I have chronic allergies to dust, grass, and mold, I need to take something all year long. One box of this product will last me an entire year and you can’t beat that! I take this with a generic chlor-trimeton (Chlorpheniramine Maleate) that I purchased from Amazon.com and my allergies are under control and I haven’t had any side affects. I am so thankful to have found these and they work!

Same ingredient as Zyrtec, but at a tiny fraction of the cost. Great to get a year’s supply for so little money. It works as well but is finally affordable!

5Work Great!

Glad to have found the generic form of this costly allergy medicine. I give my kids a half a tab, and it takes care of all their allergy symptoms. Would highly recommend this to all allergy sufferers!
