Good support for Torn Calf Muscle
By Amazon Junkie
I was wondering if this would be good for my calf muscle. Most everyone had reviewed it as a good deal for shin splints.
I don’t have shin splints. I have a torn calf muscle (torn on the side)
My calf is badly bruised, a bit of a hard bruise still, the swelling has gone down nearly completely (99%) and it’s still tender to touch, but I can walk better now.
Reason I say that is because I would recommend this for AFTER the swelling has gone down at least 95%.
Also, I don’t use this like it shows in the pictures. Otherwise, it’d squish the calf muscle I think, and make it sore (because it’s for shin splints)
I have it turned so that the solid part is supporting the calf and the wraps are almost on the front of my shin. (the tear I have is on the inside of my leg, on the side of the calf, not the back) so the wraps are on the opposite end of where the tear is.
Wearing it this way helps A LOT. Gives really nice support.
It’s a lot easier than bandages is why I got it.
I’d recommend it if you have a torn calf muscle, but you’ll probably have to use it with the wraps facing forward like I did for it to work.
That’s why I gave it a 4 star not a 5 star. Because it’s not 100% meant for calf muscle tears.
UPDATE:
I’ve been using this wrap for a few days now and it has helped a lot.
I like the one size fits all, because it’s easy to velcro it tighter, or looser, I choose. It’s not too big or small.
I’m hobbling around now as the tear is healing really well. And this wrap is on my leg 24/7.
I keep it loose at night and when I’ve got the leg at rest (don’t have to elevate anymore! yippee), but tighten it up for added support when I’m walking around.
It doesn’t slip at all. It feels comfortable and stable and has really helped me a lot.
Again…you must turn it around to use it as a calf wrap (at least I did) for it to work like it does for me.
Otherwise, I think it’d be quite uncomfortable, since my injury would be right where I tighten the velcro. So, as is, turned around, the injury is on the fabric side, completely covered and protected.

Amazing support!
By Kiley
I bought this at another store today because my shin was hurting (I was hit with a baseball last summer). As soon as I put it on, I could put weight on my leg again, it was so nice! I haven’t noticed a lot of sweat under it which is good and it’s staying in place really well. If I ever need another brace (which is likely) I will consider going back to this brand.
